Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I used McCalls 5929. I wanted to make a denim shirt that would be casual, but not boring. I toned down some of the ruffles at the top, but didn’t change much other than that. It was really easy to sew. I had never made a shirt before, so I found some of the directions confusing – I had to read them aloud!

Great work! I found this pattern such a pain, it was my first shit too, but i could never get the placket just right. Well done, and great choice of fabric. :D

This is really lovely! I have this pattern, but I never would’ve thought to use denim with it. I just ordered some chambray to make one like it in a lighter color. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Erica – I checked out your blog too, and being from Halifax myself, I remember the dreary selection at Fabricville :( Now I’m in Montreal and totally spoiled by the choice. If you visit Montreal anytime soon, be sure to spend some time and money on rue St. Hubert.
