It’s greatly advised by almost everyone not to start your prom dress a week before prom. Apparently I didn’t get the memo or the common sense to think otherwise. Besides becoming a zombie from lack of sleep and losing all feeling in the tips of my fingers, the experience was rather enjoyable.
I handmade all of the flowers, usually during class to the great disgust of all my teachers who feared I was not paying attention. I sewed along the velvet scalloped edges of the front fabric and painstakingly cut out it out afterward. I also used yards and yards and yards of blue tulle and magenta (just for fun).
The bodice was made with a lot of guessing and checking. I also eventually had to add boob cups because the weight of the skirt could not be supported by my itty bitty assets. :D
I also made the corsage and boutonniere and the hair accessories.
I’m hoping to enter my dress into the Joann’s Prom Dress contest; first prize promises $50,000!!! towards a college scholarship. I’m going to Carolina in the fall so, obviously, this is an attractive contest.
More than likely, I’ll add details (beads probably) and clean it up so I have a nicer chance.
By the way, prom night taught me that I detest high heels with a fiery passion.
Joann's fabric is so expensive, even on the red tag rack!

I felt like a peacock when I walked or the stepsisters in the animated Cinderella because my rear-end waddled from side to side. :D Thank you!

It was definitely much nicer than all the polyester, multi-produced, gowns there. Thank you for loving it. :)
