It all started with this awful navy blue v neck pull over sweater from J. Crew that I bought about 5 years ago and never ever wore. It just did not fit right – too big but not overly big, sort of baggy…very boring and ugly. I decided to use it for a sweater refashion, so I cut the front open to make it a cardigan and made bias tape binding for the edges/placket out of some navy stretch satin. I also took it in at the side seams and sleeves to make it more fitted. Then I sat around trying to figure out what to do next. I was watching the season finale of Glee and saw the navy and yellow Anthropologie sweater on Emma Pillsbury and thought SCORE! That is what I would do with my sweater.
As you can see from the comparison of my sweater with the original, my flower placement was a bit off center on my left side, but I guess that is excusable. If I were really ambitious I would remove it and sew it back on closer to the center front, but I am really not that concerned.
The flowers were cut from the same tablecloth as the skirt. The fabric is on the stiff side and has some weight so it appliqued really well. With a lighter fabric you would probably want to interface it.

I really like what you did with this sweater. I too have a pull over sweater that I just don’t like. You have inspired me.
