This dress is the McCall’s 5845 pattern.
I’ve made this dress heaps of times, mostly with full skirts, always with back modifications, but NEVER with the darts on the outside as per pattern instructions.
Main reason I was never a fan of darts-on-the-outside was because my stitching is sometimes wonky, and my backstitching looks horrible, but I took great care this time and my stitching was good.
The darts on the outside look great and gives the dress texture.
I used floral cotton sateen for the shell, and black sunsilky polyester for the lining.
I wore this dress to a wedding.
More photos of construction and pics of me wearing the dress as well as details on adjustments I made to the pattern for a great fit on my blog
