Description

A little skater dress I made myself for my birthday this year. The bodice is based the ‘Built By Wendy’ dirndl dress pattern and the skirt is a self drafted flare skirt. The fabric’s a vintage cotton that I picked up in San Francisco a couple weeks back.

I did a small bust adjustment and took the back in an an inch, but the fit’s still not quite there. The neck gapes, and I think it still needs a sway back adjustment. All advice is appreciated!

The full story and links to the tutorials I used for the pattern adjustments are on my blog mollytov.com

It looks great :) Such a pretty dress. For a gaping neckline, I really like this tutorial that the Slapdash Sewist did (scroll down to about the middle of the post. The adjustment is right under the pic of Betty Draper): http://theslapdashsewist.blogspot.com/2011/08/burda-08-2009-128-classic-boatneck.html If I’ve already sewn a dress and the neck gapes, adding a bit of elastic to tighten the neckline can help a whole bunch. And it can be a “design element”. Hope this helps!
