New York, New Yo...
I made this skirt back in July or August intending to combine it with a shirt to make a fun, casual dress, but when it came down to it I couldn’t choose between shirts, so I decided to leave it a skirt for greater versatility. It’s great for summer, but I can still wear it in fall and maybe even winter with a pair of tights!
It’s a really easy semi-circle skirt with a wide elastic waistband. I made the top of the skirt an inch or two bigger than my widest hip measurement and then gathered it onto the waistband which is just cut to my waist measurement, so that it’ll stretch far enough for me to put it on. The beauty of this is that it’s super simple to make (I’ve done a matching one for my sister, and there are 2 more on the way for my roommates), and you can do it in basically any fabric you want to give it a different look. I think I’d like to make one in linen soon.
Sorry for the less than great picture, there was nobody around to take it for me so I had to use the mirror.
the waistband is just 2" wide black elastic, but I honestly can’t remember what the fabric is that I used (it’s been lying around for years). You can use just about anything for this skirt though. If it sounds like it’ll look great, it probably will.
