Floral Knit Dress, Vogue 8663

Added Oct 16, 2010

by corduroycoat

Portland, Oregon...

This is one of the Very Easy Vogue’s from this summer. It’s a really cute little dress, especially sleeveless. But I thought I’d better add sleeves since we’re heading into fall and winter. Mostly this dress goes together “very easily” but the pleats around the neckline were a little tricky. It’s tough to get a floppy, drapey knit to sit nicely and cleanly in a pleat. The two middle pleats are actually a little off, which I will hopefully find the energy to fix soon!

Material Notes

Cotton jersey in a fall toned floral from the Mill End store in Portland. They still had some when I was there the other day.

Fall, Winter
Garment Type
Casual, Classic

Love your whole outfit! I’m getting ready to make this dress, and I hope mine turns out half as nice!

That looks great! I love the style, and more than that – the pattern of the fabric! Also, awesome boots.

It’s wonderful how great fabric can bring a simple pattern to life! I’m very lucky to live in a city with great fabric shops.

I would have never noticed anything wrong with the pleats! You picked a perfect fabric for this, and I’m with you, sleeves are being added to all the clothes for a while.

    Well done!
