the dress looks pretty on the dress form but the deep armholes and the huge sleeves look ridiculous on me :P

Good Idea Serendipity – Empire Dress pattern 8/2012 #102 might work great. The upper pleat can me eased or darted – I have several 40’s patterns and I studied the details. I think I’ll do that – use that sleeve, but prolong it.

I like it. I was thinking of making this pattern too (very 40’s) but making the sleeves fitted down the elbow. This was the actual 40’s look. To do that you have to add a dart, or even better- ease to the elbow point. But it looks lovely! I think just redo the sleeves and enjoy the dress :)

I’ve just finished this dress and I feel the same way about the sleeves. They look huge on me, awfully wide and I thought I made a mistake along the way…they just didn’t seem so wide in the photo…or is it just my lack of sewing expirience…be that as it may, I think I’ll have to modify the sleeves…:(

You’re right, the photo is very misleading. I thought about redrafting the sleeve with the Empire Dress pattern 8/2012 #102. That might work :)

In my opinion it would only be wearable if you redrafted the armholes and sleeves.
