When my brother was a toddler, my mom had a rayon maxi skirt that my brother loved to wrap up in. Now that my son is the same age, I decided that I needed such a skirt for him to wrap up in. Once it was complete and I wore it, he grabbed it and said “My blankie!”. I suppose that means this is a success!
This was made with rayon challis, and there is about three yards of length in the hem. To trim down the width of the layers, I only used a 1.5" gather. What I love about this style is that it’s nice enough to leave the house in, but comfy and easy enough to wear while just lounging around the house. Most of this was sewn on my serger, and if I try this skirt again, I refuse to gather it by hand!
