I am a big fan of black and white fabrics and houndstooth or dogstooth is no different. The shape is of a broken checks or abstract four pointed shapes and I love it because it gives a classic look.
I used it to make a fit and flare look where the top has ruffles with six buttons, front bust darts, back pleats and a round collar that stops directly on each shoulders. A zipper is also enclosed at the side to give it added ease.
The skirt is flare with pockets (own design). The dress is sleeveless and it is completely lined. I used the top of the tweed dress from burdastyle Dec 2012 as a base of inspiration and then I add my own style to capture the design that I want.
I really love how it turned out, my experimentation was a success and wore it out. It was a fun wear and a happy feeling :-)
2 yds houndstooth, 6 buttons
