I can’t think of anything better than combining my two favorite things in the world, gymnastics and sewing!
I first thought of making my own leotard due to the fact that I never manege to find a good fitting one. They’re always either not long enough or to wide (or both!). Do the people who make them think tall people are fat or something???
I made my own pattern which was quite hard, but I wanted it to fit properly. Sewing it up was a bit frustrating and I had to make myself unpick a whole part because the blue bits weren’t matching up.
I was going to take some proper photos at the gym this morning, but somehow it never happened. My friend took a few on the practice beam, but they’re not great. At training we wear our shorts with our leotards but in competition we’re not allowed.
Anyway, it’s by no means perfect but I’ll be making lots more :). I’ll probably have a different leotard for every day of the month haha.
Black and blue 4 way stretch crushed velour, white 4 way stretch lycra.

OH WOW! I totally appreciate how difficult this must have been as my mum sews dance costumes and I never understand how she has the patience! Congratulations… this is so brilliant. I love your choice of colours and the detailing – particularly the bound opening on the back. Just brilliant!

Fantastic! Makes me want to take up gymnastics again (although I don’t think I’d be any good anymore because it’s been too long!).

You did a great job, and the leotard (BTW, in Italy it will be called “body”) is quite elegant, an important feature when talking about gymnastics :)

ok, so I did not know what a leotard was, I think it had something to do with wild animals :) Turns out it’s your super duper new gymnastics outfit, that’s awesome! It amazing to combine different passions, I bet everybody at the gymnasium is jealous of your cool outfit. Great work girl, keep it up :)
