Description

For the skirt I used the tutorial from Freshly Picked to add the pockets (easy-peasy) and the tutorial from Grosgrain to make the skirt.

A few notes:

  • I used 1 yard of fabric…next time I will only use 3/4 yard. Maybe a little too full when it’s on.
  • I used 3/4 inch elastic, which was fine but I really need to get my waist measurements down. After doing the “hold-up to waist and cut method” it was still too long. I had to take off an extra 3 or 4 inches after running it into the casing and checking the fit. hmm…
  • I did have to hem the bottom because the selvedged edge had the stripes running horizontally. A zig-zag stitch really worked great with this pattern though.

Love the fabric, such a lovely colour! I just made my first ever skirt yesterday and had the same problem with working out how big it needed to be, had to cut off a lot from the hem and it’s quite puffy but I’m still pleased with it :)
