This is my first dress making attempt! I did not use a pattern, which was not really my greatest idea ever, but it turned out pretty well eventually I think – haha. I love pockets – and I added the belt, which was my grandmother’s, and it think it kinda completes the look a bit.
It has pleats at the neckline in the front with gathers at the waistband and darts in the back, then pleats on the front and back of the skirt and of course in seam pockets and an invisible zipper. I blindstitched the neckline hem by hand as well.
linen blend, invisible zipper

It’s very nice, especially for a first dress! I love the bodice – pleats, gathers and all! ;-)

Thanks, all – but I did tear out a few seams and resewed them, so it isn’t as though this was made all in a go, haha. The fabric was just something I had and rather cheap – I just wanted to see what I could do, and I never thought it would turn out quite as nice as it did. Now I want to make something in a more exciting fabric and with more color! Thanks again for the encouragement!! :)
