I bought this fabric about 2 years ago, knowing I wanted to make a coat. took me forever to actually start it, I thought it might be too difficult but I think I managed to pull it off. Matched the plaids in the back but the front isn’t great. I also wanted it to be a bit longer but forgot to modify the pattern in that area. Oops…
Based on McCalls 5717, modified to be double breasted, but I’ve been too lazy (and afraid of royally screwing up the buttonholes) to put on buttons, so I made a belt instead. Maybe someday I’ll get around to the buttons. I also omitted the shoulder pads and the bottom ruffle.
Plaid wool, Satin for lining and flannel for interlining.

I love it. I’ve been promising myself i’ll make a coat, but I’ve never been able to find the courage. I think it looks just fine. Lovely fabric choice too.
