This is based on the coffee date dress pattern – I didn’t like the frilly bit on the front so just left it off.
I had loads of fabric left over from the Marie skirt I made so I thought I’d use it to make a dress. Now I’ve practically got a collection! (If a skirt and dress in the same fabric can be called a collection)
The fabric is pretty heavy so it feels quite structured. The fit isn’t perfect – but it’s my first ever bodice and something I can work on in future projects. I think lighter fabric would probably be more forgiving in that respect.
Overall I’m quite happy with it, but I think it’s more of a autumn/winter dress than summer. (I did start it in winter) I like the 60’s vibe the fabric gives. Weirdly – on the skirt it seems 80s.
