Vogue 2339, Original 1948 Design: Misses’ Jacket and Skirt: Loose-fitting, partially interfaced, lined, hip-length jacket (fitted through waist) has collar, shoulder pads, princess seams and long, two-piece sleeves. A: cuffs. Semi-fitted, A-line, lined skirt, below mid-calf, has waistband, side slits and side snap closing.
I finished this suit back in 2005, so I do not remember much about the construction. That being said, it was the first structured suit I ever attempted and I do not remember anything being overwhelming. Vogue gave it an “Average” rating, and I think that is probably about right.
I adore this pattern. When I find a fantastic wool, I may have to pull it out again, now that I understand more about construction and tailoring. And I know I could do a lot better on those bound buttonholes!
And if you can get your hands on it (it is now out of print), I would absolutely recommend this pattern. The classic lines will never go out of style!
It is certainly not the best work I have ever done, but I do love this suit!
