An A line dress made from a wedding dress pattern in Burda Magazine March 2010 edition. I had attempted this before, with sleeves, but made quite a few mistakes and had to rip the sleeves out – but eventually it came out beautifully.
When I traced the pattern, I didn’t realise (because I didn’t read carefully enough, lesson learned!) that Burda Magazine patterns do NOT include seam allowance. This was one of the reasons the first dress was a struggle. This one, I had already cut it out when I realised, so I took a very very slim seam allowance (about 0.75cm), and it fitted very well.
I made this one without sleeves as part of my wardrobe I’ve been making for a trip to Cologne. You can read more about the project and this particular dress on my blog:

That dress is so sweet!!! I really like the simple shape, the print, the white binding that somehow makes it crisp. I just love it!

What a lovely dress! Is it the number 104, isn’t it? I’ve just search it on Burda 03/10 ’cause I would try to do one for myself: I really love your version that is so much better than the one in the magazine… Thank you for the idea!

I think it’s 104, yes (it’s a white short wedding dress with lace over it). Thanks for the comment too! If you make it, with sleeves, I’d really recommend adding width the whole way down the sleeve. I tried to make it and the sleeves, despite being wide at the bottom, were way too tight round the upper arm. It was quite restrictive so needs extra width. Make sure you post up some photos of your version too!

Yeah! Thanks…I bought the magazine but I didn’t noticed the dress until I’ve seen your pictures!
Thank you for the advice but I think I’ll do the dress without sleeves.

Thanks for the comments, is it weird to get excited about people talking about your work? Hopefully not! :)
