I participated the Grosgrain blog’s Frock by Friday sew along and this is the result of it. I don’t know, I have ambivalent feelings about this dress. I like its details, but I’m not sure, I will wear it often.
What I don’t like: I chose the size according to the size chart, but I felt it huge. I made the shoulders straighter, so I had to add more pleats to the back and front too. I followed Kathleens instructions for the vent, but honestly, I found the original instructions better.
What I like: I made the undersleeves, the undercollar, the belt, the button band and the inner yoke of a light red gingham. I like the red topstitching, the denim called for it, and it’s nice. The side seams are flat felled seams to keep the inside nice and clean. I gave a try to the elastic at the hem, but maybe I’ll cut the dress, to be shorter. My husband and my mother told to leave it.
It wasn’t difficult to make, I’ll probably make it again of a more feminine fabric for summer and smaller size. What do you think?
