Faux fur cape

Kassel , Germany

Based on Newlook 6227 pattern (version A, open arm slits)

Made of Persian fake fur, lined with checkered flannel.
The ruby coloured toggle closures are selfmade of leather, studs and pairs of clasps.
Studs and leather are also on the shoulder epaulets.

I was sceptical towards capes, because I always felt “wrapped” in them instead of being dressed – this version is comfortable because of the open arm slits, so it’s no problem to carry a handbag and the hands are free.

Material Notes

Faux fur, flannel, leather, studs, pairs of clasps

Fall, Winter
Garment Type
Casual, Classic
Flannel, Leather/Fur

Hi Brandy, thanks for sharing your beautiful cape. It turned out beautiful! It looks very comfortable and warm. I have a question about the leather closures. How did you attach them to your cape?

This turned out really beautifully! Great job! Looks so warm and cozy for this season too:) Thanks for letting me know that you finished it. It’s so great seeing what other sewers have done with the same patterns I’ve tried.

Hi Brandy, thanks for your nice comment, glad that you like my cape version. The slits were not easy to make because the fabric is very thick. (and I did not understand the tutorial, haha) Finally it is the cape that I wanted. Bye Petra
