I drafted this pencil skirt pattern with multiple rectangular shapes. I originally tried to draft patterns for a pencil skirt with built in shape, like you see in most sewing patterns. What I discovered is that isn’t necessary when drafting for knit/stretch fabric. The negative ease of stretch fabric + your own hips will make the curves.
The fabric weight was important. Due to the fabric would stretch around the bottom half of the body I wanted to ensure stretching without the (see through) effect often seen in stretch jersey knits.
