This was designed and made for a fashion show at my school, based on the theme of obsession. The costume represents the current obsession with perfection and the pressure put on young girls today to be perfect, size zero figures, and shows how this can lead to a loss of individuality and freedom.
The coat was hand sewn, using an adapted pattern from Weekend Designer
The dress was made using my friend’s sewing machine, loosely based on the pattern for a bubble dress here
Both were made out of old sheets that my parents had in the loft, and the coat was then covered with pictures from magazines.
