For those of you who have seen the movie and were equally smitten with Felicity Fox, here is my version of her dress. I used a vintage pattern (Simplicity 7242) , not an exact replica, but close enough for me. I had to hand paint all those apples as I could not find the fabric, which probably doesn’t even exist. I still need to add the button on the collar too. I just couldn’t wait to share with you. This dress makes me very happy. This is why I sew!
Organic cotton. Hand painted apples.

This is a perfect replica of Mrs Fox’s dress! I was just going to ask where you got the fabric from, it is hard to believe you have hand painted the apples, you did such a good job! A fab dress from a great movie.

That dress is amazing! I love it even without having watched the movie! Everything about it – the silhouette, the sweet painted apples… Just so pretty!

How cute is that? I love that you just took off on a design and made it from scratch! Are you a teacher? I can just see a teacher wearing this.

I loved the movie and your dress is adorable. Just the thought of painting all those apples scares me. Your patience is admirable. I would have got frustrated halfway through the painting process and probably cut out a stamp. Great job.

Awesome!!! I have been dreaming about making a dress like Mrs. Fox since seeing the movie. I loved the movie, but the dress stuck in my head for months. I just couldn’t find fabric that would work. Painting the Apples! You are amazing and the dress is P E R F E C T!! You created something that I have only dreamed about. You Rock!

It’s absolutely gorgeous! Gosh the yoke is a nice touch, stops the high neck from looking too puritan. I think I’ve got that old Simplicity pattern somewhere too – now to dig it out and use it for something (although it could possibly be as nice as this).

That is so cute! You did a fantastic job on it, too! Very professional hand painting job, it must have taken some work. I haven’t seen the movie, but maybe I should.

Oh it’s cute… as for movie inspiration – Alice in Wonderland is worth seeing for the dresses alone!
