Description

I love my new jacket!

The pattern was basically painless. Pleats: fun, gathering: fun, easy lining: awesome, no zipper: hell yes! The fit was a bit large as usual, but that is fine because I do intend on making a belt at some point.

And unfortunately, the back pleat looks a little vaggy. (See last photo)

PS: This pattern does not specify which pieces to interface. I just did the collar parts, and I was going to do the cuffs as well, but got too excited and completely forgot.

Material Notes

Olive twill, polyester lining, buttons!

I can’t believe you are the first person to make this coat! I love it. You are not the first person to mention the lack of instructions about where to place interfacing, and I updated the instructions a while back.

Hint: When you see technical images of pattern pieces that have little black dots on them, as image “A” has pictured below, it means they require interfacing:

Oh hahaha I get it. At first when I read it, I thought it was a typo and should have said “baggy” but now I totally get what she means.

Ah now you’ve worried me! Maybe it was supposed to be baggy, but it is also quite vaggy…

      I know… I totally died!

FWIW; to combat the va-jay-jay look, one could use bullet tacks to give that pleat structure. Bullet tacks are basically where you edge stitch through the edge of the fold of the inside of the pleat ensuring that the inside fold keeps it’s fold line precise. It’s totally invisible and makes pressing the pleats muc easier.

This is so beautiful, the colour and the cut – feminine with a great military-type edge. Little bit jealous, I won’t lie!
