This apron was my first sewing project. I love to bake and was looking for an apron, but not one of those “Kiss the Cook” deals or worse, “I’m cooking! Call the fire department!” And, those types of aprons were all I could find outside in the real world.
This apron has two ties, one around the neck and one around the waist. I actually wrap the waist ties around and tie in the front for a cute bow. The bottom is a simple ruffle.
I had one small oops! moment. If you look closely, you can see my pattern is facing down instead of up. I figured, what the heck, I’m proud that I finished and I’m going to wear it with pride.
Since I’m still a novice sewer, I’m not completely sure of the fabric lingo, so bear with me (and laugh if needed):
The main pattern is cotton and I bought it from the “quilters fabric” section. The design in by Heidi Grace Designs and is called “Reagan’s Closet.”
The contrasting ruffle and ties I found in the “Calico Prints” section and is black with white polka dots.
I used a bright pink thread to add a little more personality and incorporated a zig-zag stitch along the ruffle.
Flirty dresses, a cropped cami, and glam trousers for modern flappers.
