It seems like everywhere i look this season all I see is fur fur fur. It’s beautiful, but I’m not one to wear copious amounts of the stuff, so I decided to make myself a detachable collar out of a nice faux fur that I found for a good deal. Burda’s Fur Collar was perfect for what i wanted, and it only took me about an hour to make! Materials cost me about $11, so all in all I would say that it is a great addition to my collection of accessories! You should make one too!

Such a beautiful complement to any coat or dress (velvet, in your case, is a fabolous contrast!). I’m so tempted to make one myself right now. Did you find it difficult to work with this material? I somehow imagine the fur to get stuck in the seams so I’m a bit worried about how to make the finnish look nice and neat. Was this a problem?

It was so easy, really! The fur does get stuck in the seams a little bit, but the good thing about a fur is that after you sew it together and turn it right side out you just take a crochet hook or a sharp pencil and pull it out of the seam! It is VERY forgiving. My faux fur was on a loose jersey backing which was easy to cut and sew. Look for one that is soft and pliable, you’ll love it.
