Grand Rapids, Mi...
This was a look that I created for a competition/event called “Fashion on the Shore.” For the event I took two of my looks (Paladin Coat and Warrior Queen Cocktail Dress) along with this look to create a capsule collection called “Army of Love.”
This garment is my new favorite. I sketched it up one night and then started draping it. I made the dress using basically scraps of what was left from this year’s collection. It’s made from silver threaded brocade fabric, black lace, and black velvet.
There are two cut-outs: One in the front and a shield shaped one in the back.
The dress is a wrap style with an asymmetric hem that is faced with a black crepe satin material which added weight to the skirt so while walking it wouldn’t flare open too much. The shoulders are dropped and then gathered up on the shoulder line. I placed three studs on each shoulder on the gathering. The armholes are faced with the same silver brocade fabric.
The waistband is made from black velvet and is faced on the inside with the same velvet.
An invisible zipper is on the left side.
I also included in the photos my original quick sketch. I tend to do stick figures when I am quick sketching and then do a finished sketch once the idea is settled upon.

The lines of Greek architecture inspire this neutral and pastel collection.
