Description

I made a wedding quilt and a skirt with this fabric, and still, I had about 1 1/4 yard left over. I decided to use Simplicity 2922 to make this little shift dress. Cap sleeves, gathered on top, mid-knee length, and finished with re-purposed silk ribbon as bias tape. I added back darts to remove some of the extra fabric that gathered around the upper back. Great pattern for a simple style and leftover fabric.

Nothing to intricate or fancy, which just means that this dress might spend some serious time outside of my closet considering that I get the most use out of my simple, practical projects.

Even though this dress is very simple it is lovely and I am sure you will get heaps of wear from it. I have several dresses like this which I make from a Burda pattern that I have had for years. So easy to pop on after a shower when you can’t decide what you really want to wear for the rest of the day.

Thank you Schnui! I feel the same way. Basic shift dresses are a real staple in my closet b/c they’re so effortless and polished, not too mention a fairly quick and easy sewing project to tackle:)
