I’ve been experimenting with these fabric necklaces on and off for a few months now, and I finally have a pair that I love!
The blue ones are for my sister for Christmas this year, along with a few other things that I’ll be sharing as I finish them (on the theory that she has no idea what BurdaSytle is, let alone that I’m a member and might post photo’s of her Christmas gifts more than a month early).
They’re super simple to make, just a tube of fabric with beads inside, tied off between each bead and attached to a length of chain, embellished with whatever you have lying around! Mine are long enough to slip over your head, but if you want a shorter one you need to add a clasp to the chain. If you want to make one, there are tutorials all around the internet for them (I didn’t use a specific tutorial, but I was inspired to make my own after seeing so many great ones).
Update I just added 2 more photos of one I did for myself (the floral one), and of course I like it less than the ones I’m giving away.
Update She likes them! :)
jersey - mine comes from an old t-shirt, the sleeves were just about the right length to make a necklace beads - they need to be on the larger side for this, mine are maybe 1/3 inch to 3/4 inch diameter beads, and I've seen it done much larger chain - any old size or style is fine whatever you have lying around to embellish! i used fabric flowers, buttons, and tassles.

Oh these are great!!! I have made a few myself, very similar to these… I hadn’t seen yours, they’re so neat. I think I’ll upload some photos of mines so you can see them…
