I wanted to create a lovely eyelet little over shirt to be cool in the summer and simply adorable. Here in China, days are steamy, and the nights are too! When I packed clothes for our two years here I thought I was considering what I would need to battle the heat. I didn’t consider well though. I’ve found that many of the things I brought to “be cool in” may look cool… but looks can be deceiving. This new addition to my summer wardrobe was modeled after a very sweet Jacki O-esque looking over-shirt I’ve had for years. I wanted short breezy sleeves and an open and flowing shape to let in as much air as possible.
The lining under the collar made the collar a bit more sculptural than I expected but I really like it. One more thing that makes this blouse so fabulous is that I bought the eyelet fabric and the buttons both in beautiful Thailand. What a beautiful memory… walking through the stalls of bright, breezy, flowing fabrics, seeing this one, and not being able to pass it up. The gentleman I bought it from was so sweet, (he gave me a nice price)… It was love… I have enough left over that I can make myself a cute little top or dress with the extra. Horray for summer! : )
eyelet, organic cotton, wooden Thai buttons!!!

This is cute! It looks cool and comfortable – so it’s very practical too – sweet and those buttons finish it nicely. Once again – that scenery is just wonderful. This little piece will be a lovely reminder of your journeys!

isn’t the scenery enchanting? I saw this fence and had to have it! : ) The reminder of journeys is so incredibly accurate! I want to document, and on this particular journey I started a new thing… that is a little difficult… I gave away one of my dresses… the plaid one… I gave it to one of the middle school teachers in the tiny town we were working in. It was sad to say goodbye, but nice to think about my dress walking through those fields when I’m back in America. I feel like I doing it a favor! : ) sorry my reply is a novel! ha! : ) thanks for your comments friend! again, whenever you want to waltz through rice paddies, come visit us here! : )
