Description

A dress bodice that looks good on EVERY BODY! You can add skirt length in mini, midi or maxi to design a dress for any formal event in your life.

Material Notes

We began with a basic silhouette I liked from classic 30’s Hollywood movies. I “frankensteined” a patten together from vintage patterns, one new pattern and then free-hand drafted the rest. Then, my mom and I made a truly couture dress, by lining the entire bodice in silk. We also added chiffon over the bodice to give my dress a Grace Kelly feel. You can add any design elements you want to make your dress make “red carpet impact.” The possibilities are endless!

Hey, Guys – You can watch the whole “Prom Dress” episode which features the Every Body Bodice at www.janessewandso.com for free! If you make the bodice PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share the pix with me. It’s my first “Frankensteined” pattern, so I’d love the feedback. I loved doing it!

I’m so glad to hear that! I’m pretty excited – we just shot a Halloween show yesterday that I got to host because my mom broke her shoulder. She’s healing very nicely, so I’m grateful for that! But, I had a blast trying out my skills as a host – I helped a 9-year-old friend of mine turn three thrift store pieces into a genie costume – SO CUTE!

European 38, I think. Is Burda different? I’ll see if I can figure it out. Americans. Not so good with metric! >;-p

ok then, if you’re size 10… I think that must be a 38 in burda. So your bust contour must be around 88 cm…. am I right? (this information is only in order to know the dress size!) Also, more picks are not that much needed as the video on your site is very didactic! thanks for shearing once again…

      Okay, Miss Wordsmith!

Yes, the video is intended to teach! Glad you found all you were looking for. If you make the pattern, please, please, please let us know because we love to feature videos of folks who have made projects from the show. You can send a home video to us or upload to YouTube and send me the link!

Oh, darn. This was supposed to be a link, but I miffed it, somehow. Anyway, if you go to the Blog, then the Guest Column, scroll down to the post that has all the snapshots from prom. Hope this helps. I’ll try to get it all prettied up!

Hey, Guys – I tried to add some new images to the pattern, but they come out really tiny and cut-off. Anyone have any suggestions about how to post them in bigger form so you can view them better? My blog post is going to be published soon, and it has lots of images in it, so keep looking out for that under the Guest Column. Bear with me, getting used to the new layout of the site, etc. – I feel like such a newbie again!

Hey! The basic size is 8-12. I left it in that range because you can really adjust it to any bust size, just like trying on a bra – you can cinch it in or let it out and even add more to the cup size, as needed. So, it requires a little draping and adjustment. Hope this helps.

Would it be possible to upload a few more pictures of this bodice? It looks beautiful, but I can’t see the front and I’d love to be able to appreciate the whole thing. Thanks much. :)
