Burda Style For people who sew

Yes, it’s still early spring, but I’ve already started my long-term project – I’m attempting to sew myself a spring/summer wardrobe, and this is the first item on my list, essential summer shorts!
This is from Simplicity 2367. I love the shape of the shorts and the leg cuff and the big pockets. (The back has darts and no pockets.) And best of all, it was super easy to make! The only painful part was making all the carriers and interfacing, but compared to some of my other projects, this was not a lot of work at all. In fact, I like it so much that I’m making another pair of these shorts in black herringbone right now.
I used a cotton/polyester stretch blend so that it wouldn’t wrinkle too much when I sit down. The fabric has just a little bit of stretch to it, which is great. Although it’s not clear in the picture, the fabric is actually off-white, and has a very subtle vertical weave and just a tiny little bit of sparkle woven into it.
