After a long hiatus, I created this dress for a Lee Jeans Competition. I was given a pair of Lee Cooper jeans to translate into something that inspires from the phrase “British Lifestyle”. I took my inspiration from the historical castles of Britain, and adopted the idea of creeping moss down a brick wall. I picked the sand tone to represent the latter and black French lace for the former. For the waist yoke, I used the denim jeans I was given and did some silkscreening to it using the colours of the Union Jack. I made the strips tattered to create the weathered look of a flag having lived through war. It’s the battles fought for the glory of the country, the spirit of regal beings and the beauty of untouched history that truly marvels me. Summary: Cocktail skirt with train and hand-applique lace, with denim yoke. French-seamed, babylocked edges.
Denim in Dk blue, Soft tulle in cream, Tudong chiffon in rose pink, Black French lace, silkscreen.
