This is a little bigger, more refined changing pad than the first one I made. It’s after a pattern I found on the web, but I replaced terrycloth outers with vinyl so this one would be wipeable, instead of washable like the other one I made.
Again, poor people make their own cotton batting. That made this hard to sew, because even with just 3 layers of leftover jersey at the pillow seam it got really thick to sew, so I had to use some fabric glue for a bit of the bias tape at the corners, rather than stitching it down. This was also because vinyl rips easily, too, so I couldn’t sew it over 3 or 4 times as per web instructions with terrycloth.
Overall I’m pleased with the results; I omitted the pockets in this design because of the vinyl and because I just didn’t want them. PIllow is actually made out of raincoat microfibre stuff instead of vinyl so it will actually be soft on baby’s head. :-)
shower curtain vinyl, leftover linen print fabric, leftover t-shirt sleeves sewn together for "cotton batting" layer, bias tape, rain coat microfiber & nylon
