This is fun skirt made from a what appears to be a double weave jacquard fabric – the front and backsides of the material are both finished and can be used as the fashion fabric side of a garment. I just used one side and created this high waisted skirt. Let me tell you – it is super difficult to figure out what to pair with the skirt! I don’t really have khaki shirts, and anything else kind of looks weird. This white shirt did okay, I think because we paired with the necklace – but what would you wear with it? I love the shape of the skirt, there are four pleats in the front and in the back and the waistband is finished with green piping. The overall shape is slightly tulip-like, I made it last summer when that shape was super-trendy! It is a self-drafted pattern :) The material could be cotton, but I can’t remember. All I know is it was on a super-sale so I bought a couple of yards!
Milo (our cat) ran into quite a number of pictures, so I thought she could be included :)

A beautiful skirt and congratulations on how well its made. I agree with you about the choice of top, I would recommend a black fitted turtle neck sweater because this will give a more even proportion and balance look to your body shape. After all, the skirt is the star of the show and you have the look to carry it off.

It’s really stylish, very nice. Think you did the right thing wearing a close fitting top with it, vests, tshirts or strapless tops would all work well. Cerise sounds good, I bet bright strong yellow or orange if you can find your shade, creamy beige, white all should work with it :-)

fabulous! i love the ultra high waist. i think the white looks perfect with it. i also liked the comment of a bright pink for statement. I think if i did pair it with a color I’d go with a bold fushia, tho the white is my fave. black would also work, of course, but i think it would look more like a dress when worn that way. I’m not very curvy, so I have a hard time pulling off the style, but this is so cute I may give it another shot! Thanks for sharing. great inspiration.

Probably one of the best skirts I’ve seen here on Burda. Haha, I can see how it’s tricky to find something that goes with it. It looks very professional and… great. Really, it looks like you bought it. I wish I had the patience! GREAT job!

This is a great skirt! At first I thought your cat’s fur was the inspiration, since they’re both stripe-y. Love it and it looks great on you!

The detailing is great. I wish I could make myself plan far enough ahead to include those little details. The pleats create a great shape and a lot of visual interest. Plain and simple is essential for pairing with such a crazy pattern.

The black may work, I’ll have to try it! Yes, the pattern is one I developed out of my sloper, but I think Simplicity (or some other brand) has a ready-made pattern that is similar.

maybe a nude color shirt? Like the beige on the skirt? That’s tough… But the skirt is cool!

You’re right! I just noticed that the stripes on Milo mirror the skirts stripes :)

thanks! I appreciate well-constructed garments so I try to do the same when I make things (though sometimes I rush and cut corners…. :) )
