Description

This will be my friend’s graduation dress. I made it for her as an advanced birthday present.
I used the same pattern as for Hippolytia’s Gown, which is Burda magazine 12/07, No. 104. I just went without the chiffon layer and of course it’s shortened.
It suits her really well, so I hope I will have a picture with her in it soon.
I had to do the skirt part twice because of a stain that wouldn’t go out and I got REALLY frustrated with it because of that, but in the end it turned out very pretty :-)

I made the green dress in the second picture as well, you can find it here
You can soon find all the graduation dresses I made on my blog (four in total!)

While doing all of these, I’m discovering how much I love working with silk, but I fear that’s just a little too expensive to use it in all my projects. ;-)

Material Notes

two different kinds of silk; lace

This is so lovely! Really classic lines and colours – a great choice and I’m sure your friend will love it!

Stunning! It reminds me of a similar dress I had in high school – the only garment ever tailor-made to fit me (so far). I loved it, and I bet your friend loves hers!

Gee, wish I had a friend like you when I was graduating! Your friends are very lucky. Beautiful job on the dress. I like the scalloped edge lace.
