This lovely lady is part of my series of hand embroidery / appliqués based on the images on the front of the envelopes that contain vintage dress making patterns. I love those ladies! When I was growing up, waiting for my Mum to buy whatever she needed from the habidasherers, I used to love going through the books and drawers of patterns looking at all of their outfits – I thought they were so sophisticated.
The piece is 9″ × 12″ / 20.5 x30.5 cm, worked on linen and backed with calico and is mounted on a frame 1/2" / 1.3cm deep
