This is Vogue 8182 View A, made to size 8 in electric blue cotton poplin. I love it, and the fit of the bodice is really good, but I had to take in about 6 inches around my hips, which are small in relation to my bust and waist. If I’d thought about it a bit more I would have cut the skirt to the smaller size, but I basically fudged it by taking in the sides until it fit, which led to a bit of weird creasing at the zip. However, that’s barely noticeable.
I also used just the lining pieces for the bodice (leaving out the gathered top section, so that the only gathers are in the midriff) because it was my least favourite part of the first version of this I made, and it looks more formal this way, I think.
The fabric is John Lewis (London)‘s own brand cotton poplin, which was fantastic to work with and only creases a little bit (as in, I ironed it to wear to the wedding, but for general about-town wear, I don’t bother!)
