This is my new wedding dress (to wear to others’ weddings!). Months ago I saw KatieC’s Cynthia Rowley’s black ruffle dress and I fell in love with that big neck ruffle. The pattern was only available in South Africa about 6 months later so I made this dress for my oldest friend’s wedding in March and have since worn it to another wedding, and hope to wear it again soon! I must be honest – the fit of this pattern really gave my grief – I just don’t find Simplicity’s patterns fit me well?! and I hate that so often the necklines and arms don’t have proper facings but rather bias strips :-( I had to take the shoulders up on the top, cut the armhole’s lower, the neck was a bit wide and the waist was way too small if I’d cut it to my size!? I am very happy with how it turned out after all that (at times painful) effort, I think this pattern is a real winner other than the fitting issues… I’m not a huge fan of altering and get impatient! so here’s hoping many more wedding bells ring so I get to dance in my electric blue dress.

I’ve had this pattern for several months now, and bought a gorgeous royal blue taffeta for it – slightly darker than yours. The hints are great & will be a fab help whenever I finally start into it. Well done:)

This is beautiful! I made one for a company dinner last year, and I think I like the blue more than the lavender I had made!
I am in the process of making another with ivory shantung to wear to a family function.
I was going to make 5 for the bridesmaids, but my sewing mentor is making them :D as her wedding gift … a more than generous gift …!
Great work!!!
