This dress is a copy of a Benetton piece I bought this summer. I wanted to try out making my own pattern from a finished garment and it worked. Even better than the original, my version has shorter sleeves, which I think are in better proportion.
This is 100% viscose from Miu Miu and it shrank lots in the pre-wash so I was pleased I had bought more than I estimated I would need. The dress is made from 4 pieces: 1 top front, 1 top back, 1 bottom front and 1 bottom back and two simple pockets sewn into the side seams. It was the first time I had sewn an elasticated waist into the seam allowance but it was easy.
Plan a weekend getaway in these sweater dresses and furry accessories.
