Description

My first foray into sewing, and I think they turned out alright! Each skirt took about 2 hours, but I am pretty slow. Oh! And most have pockets! Super handy!

I’m not sure if I like the white chiffon one (last picture) enough to wear in public though. I tried to make it more fitted than the others but its a little wonky, the fabric itself kind of makes one look lumpy, and i only had the shorter amount of brown fabric to go underneath, does it look silly? WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Based on the pattern/instructions given at http://whatwouldanerdwear.blogspot.com/2010/05/lesson-plan-worlds-easiest-skirt.html and http://freshlypicked.blogspot.com/2010/02/elastic-waist-skirt-tutorial-mama.html.

Material Notes

Some are super comfy jersey knits, cotton, one silk. The black chiffon-like flowered material was originally a extra large womens blouse from value village, as was the white textured chiffon material! reduce reuse recycle!

To be honest, the last one that I tried to make in more of a pencil shape didn’t work out well. To get a fitted shape pleats and darts or whatever are needed. When i tried just making it with less fabric, the fit at the top was still poofy, giving a pregnant look. not good. I suggest finding a good pencil skirt pattern, Im trying too!

I don’t love the white one either, but maybe it’s bc the underskirt is so much shorter than the overskirt. Maybe you could add a band of fabric at the bottom of the underskirt to make them a bit more even.

i agree, i bought the brown fabric as a scrap to begin with and only had that much left. The white material looked neat as a skirt that length, so i tried to throw the two together, outcome wasn’t great! but I solved that problem by giving it away to my sister muhaha.
