Burda Style For people who sew
Description
This is a jumper/shirt combo I made from Vogue 9128, a vintage pattern from the early Eighties recently voted “The Ugliest Pattern Ever” on my blog, Male Pattern Boldness. The jumper is oversized and shapeless and the shirt has shoulder pads out to THERE. My glamorous identical cousin Cathy was none too pleased to have to model it!

Material Notes
I used a striped cotton shirting with a silver stripe for the shirt and a glen plaid blend for the jumper.

Unfortunately, I think the potato sack look is still in. I see people wearing big shapeless dresses like this all the time. I need to stop hanging out at Walmart. LOL. Thanks for brightening my morning. btw, so funny the look on the kids faces on the 5th picture. I dont think they approve of the multiple ties.

Holy WTF… and they always say everybody was on drugs in the 70s! This dress must be the effect of the giant hangover that followed in the early 80s. XD

Wow, I remember these from back when I had a waist and wasn’t afraid of not showing it. Lol Love it Peter! Your stuff always put a smile on my face. The photography and modelling is also awesome. My friend Anne loved your stuff and I’ll tell her to take a look at this one too. Hope to see more soon. I hope we don’t put too much pressure on you to make more… :-)

We did and you know it! lol. There were worst things in the 80s… permed hair and shoulder pads that robbed you of a neck. :-)

you’re killing me. slaying me. omg, this is hilarious!!! was that the true original size?? it’s clownlike!! although i’m sure if i looked hard enough, i’d find a pic from back in the day of my mom rocking something like that. oy, the shoulder pads!!! my favorite part is the look on the faces of the kids behind you, i mean your identical cousin cathy, in the park.
