Pink silk and silver French lace wedding gown based on an French original of 1909 (http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lx710nQvOd1qidnqfo1_500.jpg)
The gown is worn over a corset in the S curve style of the same period.
Su drafted the original block for both the corset and the blouse that goes under the gown. We shared pattern modifications after the fittings, and the gown itself was drafted from the block for the back, with the front draped on the stand. I made up the blouse and the outer gown while Su concentrated on the corset. We shared the embellishment with the silver lace and pink cultured pearls (also bought in Hong kong). There is an ivory twilled silk petticoat under the gown, which is lined in the same ivory silk.
We also made the pink silk and silver lace roses, embellished with more of the pearls, that the bride wore in her hair with the ivory silk tulle veil dating from 1954. This veil was originally worn by my mother. I and my sister also wore it for our weddings, and it has served several other family members and friends well.
The pink silk and pink pearls were bought by the bride in Hong Kong. The French Lace came from James Hare here in the UK. The ivory silk lining came from some old stock bought up when a local designer tie factory closed!
Sweet dresses, an outfit for a doll, and cute embellishments are fun for the holidays!
