I made this to look very old, and I only wear it as underwear. It’s made out of upholstery fabric, which sometimes have lovely patterns, and are also strong enough for corsetry :)

You are a doll!! Secondly – did you draft this yourself – it seems as if your top dimensions were a bit off in measurement. I only say that because the gap in the back is much more narrow at the top than the bottom. Not the 2 inch gap all the way down that custom tailored corsets boast. Regardless – this is nice, very pretty, and great choice of fabric!

I think this is because I didn’t make the waist smal enough, It wasn’t supposed to close at the bottom :)

This is so gorgeous. I keep wanting to try making a corset but I’m always backed up with other projects! Good job on yours.

I love this. By “bone casing” do you mean boning up the seams? Or something else?

you sew bone casing onto the seams, then fold that down and stitch it. I might put up a how to next time I make a corset, it’s quite hard to explain..

It looks very professional and fits perfect. How long does it take to make one?

It takes maybe a day and a half. The fiddly bit is the bone casing

This is so beautiful… I am going to make my first corset really soon but would you recommend any good patterns? What pattern did you use for this?

I went on a corset-making course, and made a pattern out of the resulting corset. Very fiddly and time consuming, then I just cut the top off it.
I would recommend going to venacavadesign.com and buying a pattern. You will probably have to fiddle with it to make it fit, and then cut off the top like I did. I hope this helps :)

I just bought the book you were talking about on your other post of the black and red under bust corset.. I cant wait for that to arrive. I might also have a look into courses…. was it an evening course you did? I’m thinking there must be something similar in Brighton. Really loving your work by the way – very inspiring. x

I want to make my own waspie for tightlacing, but can’t decide on a pattern. Any suggestions?
