This simple project was born of the fact that I have way too much fun scrap fabric laying around. These started off as pattern weights, but depending on the size, my friends found that there were several other great uses for them including bean bags for the tailgating game Cornhole and hackeysack. Then my cats decided the small ones were fabulous toys – especially when you throw some catnip into the rice filler.
quilter’s cotton or other substantial fabric. Not for lightweight fabrics.
I used quinoa and rice as a filler, mainly because I hate the taste of quinoa and could find little other use for it. Rice is cheaper and not as dense.
