I took an existing plain navy hat and embellished it for Easter 2011. First, I used floral wire to anchor a toy ‘baby chick,’ to my hat, twisting the ends together out of sight inside the hat. Then I took matching veiiling and added chenille dots. First, I cut 1/2 sections from a yellow pipe cleaner. Then I took these tiny sections and twisted them around a corner on the netting, carefully placing about four or so in the front, and then more in the back to draw the eye back
Now, the chick lost its head moments before this photo was taken unfortunately. The head snapped off, and I tried to glue it back on…with no luck. So I wore the hat with the headless chick to Easter Mass. No one noticed unless I told them…and I got many compliments on my hat. Lesson: most mistakes are never even noticed.
