Description

This is styled after the dress showcased on the July 1916 cover of Vanity Fair and illustrates the dramatic change in fashion that occurred in the period between 1909 and 1916, due in part to the craze for tango dancing that spread across Europe in the period leading up to the outbreak of war (and the years that followed). The dress is part of a collection of clothes being developed for tango dancing. It is made of black rayon. Although the 1916 cover inspired this dress, I developed the design details. I embellished the dress with a cotton scarf I bought from a local boutique. For more details, see my blog.

Material Notes

Black rayon fabric with jacquard-style motifs, black thread, snaps, hooks and eyes.
