Burda Style For people who sew

I made this skirt for Grosgrain free pattern month.
I’m a big fan of scalloped edges in clothing. I was greatly influenced by 2010 Marc Jacob’s resort collection..
The skirt is high waisted, and the upper part of the waist band is scalloped. I just had my daughter in April, and while I was pregnant, I wore a lot of jersey dresses and baby doll style dresses. I love dresses, so it was fun, but I did miss wearing some separates. Now my bump is gone, I’m all about wearing clothes that mark the waistline!

your skirt is adorable! I’m following a pattern drafting book and the project i’m at is skirt with a waistband, ive been dyeing to get to this project and now that i am, im no longer inspired so i came to Burdastyle to find some inspiration…..suddenly i am excited all over again. I have several yards of an icy blue velvet, I’m gonna do a straight waist band cuz doing a half circle skirt is a first for me and i dont want too many firsts at once. Thanks so much for the inspiration.

When you were feature on Grosgrain I had just bought some pink fabric for a skirt and was trying to decide on what pattern to use. I made your scalloped skirt about a day or two after I saw it. I LOVE it and I’ve received great compliments because of it! I am a novice seamstress and this was a simple but very rewarding project to take on. Thank you for it and keep up the great work!
