Designed in fall of 2009, I wanted to present a long formal gown made of fabric that wasn’t made for its intention. Shirting material is the nice stretchy cotton fabric that women’s collared shirts are made of. I adjusted a Simplicity pattern for this dress and added the fishtail sweep train. The underskirt is black chiffon to pull in the dark stripes as to not make it look like a simple wedding dress.
White cotton stretch shirting fabric. Black nylon chiffon. White cotton thread. 22" zipper.
Hit the city streets in adventurous looks with utilitarian details like cargo pockets and belts.
Twists on feminine classics, like a bold patterned shift dress and pants with a racing stripe.
