Burda Style For people who sew

Pattern taken from November 2010 Burda magazine no:103 page 36, sewing course.
I used silk organza for the yoke and some spare black polyester that has a slight sheen for the main body of the dress.
I’m a Threads Insider subscriber and used the french binding technique for the armhole and neck edges.
It is lined with black honkong silk lining.
The garment calls for pockets but there was not enough fabric and in any case, the client (my daughter) would only put her hands in them and ruin the line!
It is one of my easiest, fastest makes, even considering that I hand sewed the lining. The length is perfect for her, and it needed no adjustment. I graded the pattern downward to size 34, using a method I’d seen in an old Burda or two. Daughter will be adding the collar for more formal occasions. I’ll get around to finding a way to make it detachable.
The collar and the lining fabric were bought in Silkhance in Tooting SW London, the organza is from eBay and I have no idea where the black fabric comes from except it just appeared in my stash.
