Dress for an Architect

Added May 16, 2013

Toronto, Canada

This is a dress I based on a trusty and simple pattern by Angela Kane. I sliced it and turned the pieces over the stripey jersey fabric at 45 degrees, in order achieve that pieced look. The black fabric is also jersey. It looks the same front and back, and I tried to match the stripes properly on the sides and shoulders, but for some reason unknown to this novice seamstress, they ended up mismatched.
Mmm, basting might have been a good idea, come to think of it.

Material Notes

Thrifted jersey material.

Love it! Your dress looks great. When the stripes are that narrow, I don’t worry about matching them… :)

Thank you very much for the credit – I think the credit goes to you on this one though. Great cutting!

I am flattered that you even had a look at it. Your pattern is so great it lends itself to many wonderful variations. Thanks.

Your dress looks great and very mod, and you did a great job with the stripes in several directions! Matching such narrow stripes at the seams is never easy, especially with jersey fabric!
